I know that Biblical Christianity is difficult for some Christians to comprehend.
The Bible is either the revealed word of God, or it isn’t.
It is black and white with no grey areas.
In a number of denominations, the Bible’s moral stances are increasingly seen as extraneous to our culture.
The basic teaching on human sexuality found in Genesis 1:27
“So God created man in his own image…male and female he created them”
There could hardly be a clearer passage than the plain directive of Leviticus 18:22:
“You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.â€
Paul in Romans makes very clear what the result of Apostasy is:
Romans 1:24-32
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.
25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.
27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
28 Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind; to do what ought not to be done.
29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips,
30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents;
31 they are senseless, faithless, heartless, and ruthless.
32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
I find myself confused that when Episcopal Church Bishop Jefferts Schori was asked if it was a sin to be homosexual. She responded:
“I don’t believe so. I believe that God creates us with different gifts. Each one of us comes into this world with a different collection of things that challenge us and things that give us joy and allow us to bless the world around us,” she said.
“Some people come into this world with affections ordered toward other people of the same gender and some people come into this world with affections directed at people of the other gender.”
I believe she needs to read the Bible.
