Memorial New Blog Showcase

Published by pet under Carnivals

Tigger and I have been lazing around this weekend, what with computer failures, hosting
Servers being down, and just a sense of being
our usual lazy selves lethargy from the heat..
I’m pretty sure it had nothing to do with the amount of food that was consumed by the family yesterday.
Ever try to herd cats? That is easier than trying to arrange a firm date with some unnamed family members…
So Tigger reminded me that while the server is back up we should take a look at the memorial submissions from the New Blog Showcase.

From the land of The Battle of Britain, Save-the-Ribble leads off with a call to save the beauty of the River Ribble and also shares some beautiful photos.

Scott Kominsky suggests some ways of “hooking up” at ObserveLife.
As we move forward from the famous “pin up girls” of the Second World War; for those of you who don’t remember the “Varga Girls” were
Both naughty and nice, men wanted to adore them and women wanted to imitate them.

Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz reminds us that “Among the men who fought on Iwo Jima, uncommon valor was a common virtue.”

And unlike General MacArthur who said “I’ll come back as soon as I can with as much as I can. In the meantime, you’ve got to hold.” Susan Reynolds shows you how to get well known with out waiting! You Can Take a Giant Step : Want to Get Known?

The men who fought in famous battles like Guadalcanal, the Ardennes and Monte Cassino, hailed from every nationality, region and class. Became not only heroes of their neighborhoods, but of patriotic foods as well. Steve Faber gives us Walnuts, Chocolates or a GBU-28?

Tigger and I close this Carnival with this thought on Memorial Day from General George S. Patton: “Sure, we want to go home. We want this war over with. The quickest way to get it over with is to go get the bastards who started it. The quicker they are whipped, the quicker we can go home. “

Our thanks to The Ogre who allows us to make fools of ourselves lets us play with the carnivals.

The Random Yak was the awesome host with a fun carnival last week..
And nexts week carnival is at Dave’s Not Here
Carnival information can be found at the NZ Bears place, or at Conservative cat

Remembering

Published by pet under Life

Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto is credited with saying, after the attack on Pearl Harbor, “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.”

The terrible resolve that was seen was the determination to remain a country of free people who were willing to spill their own blood unreservedly.
America remains free because of heroes, individuals who have acted with honor, and integrity. Those who do the right thing even when it may mean death or injury,
American heroes.

After the September 11 attack patriotism abounded. Lifted us, gave us the ability to continue on.
Today there is division and dissent, because our leaders have failed to lead.
We need strong leadership.

A leader who is capable of having that terrible resolve, and standing where it’s necessary
To stand regardless of the people who would sell America out.

The American people need to know that the individuals guiding them are intelligent, know what honor is, and utilize wisdom.

Memorial Day is a time of remembering, it should be also a day of celebration, a day when heroes are lauded, Parades, marching bands, men and women in uniform.
Hero’s each and every one.

Today as I reflect on the sacrifices of the hero’s that have died to secure the freedoms I enjoy, I can only say Thank you and God Bless you for your courage.
